You are a novice detective with the uncanny ability to find anything.

After being approached by an estranged family member, you are introduced to the strange disappearance of a girl named Laura. It is your job to find her.

Your only tool is a database that only recognizes names.

Can you uncover the mystery of what happened to Laura?

----------------------------------------

This game is heavily inspired by other works such as The Roottrees are Dead and Her Story. I was super inspired to make this after playing them!

If you find any bugs, please let me know so I can fix them!  As always, I've included one (tiny) secret for you to discover! (recommended to find it after you beat the game but I'm not your dad)

This project was honestly really fun to make and I'm hoping this will get me back into game designing because it's really a passion of mine.

I hope you enjoy!

I've found 8 characters so far but I'm at a kind of stand still idk how to continue I think I've used up all the characters. But it has been fun so far! Can't find the Secret Entry either :(

Ack! Thanks for letting me know!! I think I fixed it for real this time.... I can only hope!!!

I'm glad you've enjoyed it!! Thank you for playing!!

(as for the secret: I am very vain and like adding myself into my own games....)

Figured out the little secret ;)
Hate to be that person but the 'You've finished the game!' came up before I was done it didn't affect the game but just thought I'd let you know.
Love, love, loved the game!!!! 10/10 the storyline was great and I really enjoyed how it was formatted to be a computer. I will for sure come back and play more of your games.

So this definitely caught my interest; the games you're inspired by here are two of my favorites, so I figured I'd give it a shot.  I ended up hitting a dead end (at least, I never got to an ending page, though hitting on the Secret Entry does link me to one, so I guess I missed a step).

The names I found were: Xryyl, Vevf, Ynherapr, Wnxr, Qnavry, Jvyyvnz, Ynhen, Cnzryn (naq "Errq" naq "Juvgr" juvpu tbg ab erfhygf).  I can't tell who I could have missed.

There's a handful of typos, most of which are minor, but Will's graduation photo is tagged with "jlauence02", and I had to guess that that was a misspelling to progress.

I do like the way the story unfolds!  The part that worked the least for me was Iris being more concerned with her public image than her daughter (really? "being brought to the police station because her daughter went missing" is something her publisher would get mad about?).  But a lot of it does really work.

AHH!!!! Thank you so much for playing my silly little game (and thank you so much for finding typos!!!!! I swear I check for them all the time and they always sneak by me...)  and you did find all of the documents!!! I'm super bad at debugging hence why it didn't work.

(Writing this comment and debugging as we speak, turns out I misspelled "laura" as "Lauren" in some code that checks if you've found everything.... I swear I can code)

And yes, Iris was a very last minute addition. Actually, the publisher part was supposed to be edited out in the final version (which I just did, thank you for the warning!!!) because it makes no sense, haha.

I'm glad you liked it! This is the longest game I've made to date (with the most intense story aspects) so I'm glad it worked!

THANK YOU AGAIN FOR PLAYING!!! YOU'RE AWESOME!
